The county fair is kind of a big deal in our area. I remember going as a kid. We'd get unlimited ride wrist bands and ride the biggest roller coasters. Now we take our children. The animal barns are usually our first stop. The kids especially love the horses and the kids barn where they usually have kittens, bunnies, and an incubator with hatching chicks.
Next we get something to eat, usually a burger at a church food stand or 4H building for Corey and jalapeno cheese curds and mini donuts for me.
We also go look at the art the students submitted and find our kids' and then check out all the 4H entries. Lauren usually plays a few rounds of bingo, until she runs out of quarters.
Finally.....the rides. We buy some fair tickets in advance so they are more affordable and then turn the kids loose. The older kids usually find some friends or relatives to ride with, and Nora has good big sisters who took her on the rides.
She didn't love all of them. So fun. We usually go just one evening, although sometimes the older kids will go again with friends. The fair kind of marks the halfway point of the summer though, which always makes it bittersweet for me.
